In the heart of the Lowcountry, a new legal practice is making estate planning more accessible, affordable, and compassionate. Founded in May 2025 by Attorney Aashini Shrivastav, Cardinal Wills is a mobile, community-centered estate planning firm created to meet a critical but often overlooked need among local residents.
Aashini’s passion for law began at the age of eleven, and her career has been guided by a single principle – to serve with purpose. With a strong penchant for public interest law, she began her legal career at a legal aid organization in Massachusetts before spending close to four years with a reputable heirs’ property nonprofit organization in South Carolina. These roles deepened her commitment to community-based lawyering, particularly around the issues of land retention and generational wealth preservation.
Aashini recognized a growing legal services gap – many South Carolinians lacked access to simple, cost-effective estate planning, particularly those with mobility challenges or limited financial means. Motivated by both professional insight and personal growth, Aashini envisioned a new model, one that could bring legal services directly to the people.
Before launching her firm, Aashini spent a month cultivating insight from established solo practitioners. Through candid conversations over coffee and lunch, she gathered the unspoken wisdom of entrepreneurship, and with the encouragement of her peers and family, she officially launched Cardinal Wills in May 2025.
Within weeks, it became evident that the Charleston community was not only receptive but also deeply appreciative of this new chapter in estate planning. Cardinal Wills isn’t just a legal service. It’s a space for vulnerability, reflection, and preparation. Each client is guided through the tough questions of estate planning with patience, clarity, and care.
Aashini views estate planning as an act of love – it is a proactive choice that one makes to protect their family and legacy.
